Palmerston North Teams Champ - Preparation

Well after a few discussions Auckland has a team for the 2012 ENZED Superstock Teams Champs held at Palmerston North International speedway. Bryce had been asked already to race for another club but put the question to me if I'd like to make the trip down and see if Auckland can get a team together. I decided if I was to sell up at the end of the season and stop racing then I'd like to experience it once at least, even if I do only go down as the reserve car.

So we headed to Kihikihi a couple of weeks ago to run the cars, mine the first time with the new diff and Bryce's the first time with the freshened engine. After a couple of laps remembering how to drive I put the foot down and caught and made up some places and everything was working well. Setting a lap time to match those at the pointy end of the field. Second race 66k spun in front of me and I was collected hard by 24h, splitting his front bumper, breaking the thermostat housing and cracking the engine block. I sat out the last race, but Bryce had a good day in 73a giving it a shake down before the NZ Champs at Huntly.

So as for this weekend, the cars will be finished tonight and loaded into the trailer. Most of the Marx team will be heading down on Friday but I've got a number of meetings already booked for Friday so Saturday will be a long day. Not many jobs left, just reset the suspension, change the diff gears and finish packing the truck. A big thank you to everyone involved so far and looking forward to a great weekend.

So head down to the pits and say Hi, its going to be a great weekend of racing.
