The Season is upon us!

It seems like every year the off season gets shorter. This year was definitely no exception, lots of other projects on the go and many jobs unfinished from the summer that needed to be sorted. It didn't help of course for my car that I took a 5 week holiday to the USA. No not anything to do with racing, purely to get around, relax and see some more sites of the world that you look at on TV/movies and think wow that would be a great place to visit. Sure the money that we chewed through could have easily paid for quite a good new engine for the season, but there is no comparison with being able to stand under a Saturn V rocket at NASA, getting drenched by the water at Niagara, flying through the Grand Canyon by helicopter, and the list can just keep going.

The Off-Season season
There were a few discussions during the off season about what we were going to do regarding racing, but once all the smoke had cleared at the end of the day none of us want to see Superstocks disappear from Waikaraka Park, even though you get the feeling that's what some people were pushing for. We also think you should support your local track, so all 3 cars at present will be running with an A.

During the off season Dad built another chassis which appeared in the Stockcar ranks at WP's opening meeting on saturday. We are looking forward to seeing it on the track the next time we are racing.

Current Status...

53a

After 2 seasons of running a cracked quickchange diff, we have finally removed it and replaced the center section, it will be nice to not have to top up the diff oil every meeting.

The mufflers are being replaced, the original Flowmasters where getting weak and not working properly. Also when we started the car up for the first time since March, it backfired rather violently and split both mufflers completely in half.

Otherwise the car will just be receiving minor alterations to give us a bit more suspension adjustment. We were going to look at some new extractors but they will need to wait.

63a

After a season of a few different drivers 63a is getting a few structural changes and the battery box is being shifted from the rear.

73a

After a season of some hard racing and damage from Palmerston North. The chassis has been stripped, straighten, and strengthened. The big Chevy has been checked over and will soon be reloaded into the engine bay. A few changes to the rear suspension should also help Bryce actually get some of the engines power to the track instead of just spinning the wheels.

At the moment the goal is on having all 3 cars ready for our first night at WP, which I think is the next meeting on the 13/11. We could try to have 2 cars going for Huntly this week but the antiquated SNZ rules about having to get a license at your home track etc just make it too much hassle to load up and head to WP get everything sorted and then load back up and head off down the road.

P.S, sorry to those people who have emailed us and not received responses there was a problem with the sites email hoster which appears to have been resolved. Also just to apologies to all those readers about our lack of updates. I lost a good friend before last christmas and between that and a few little disappointments with our class and track I was ready to sell up and close the site. But a good break has recharged the batteries so will aim for a better effort this season.
