First Practice 4th October 2008 Waikaraka Park Speedway
Well I guess that means the new season is pretty much ready and set to get under way. Of course none of the cars from the workshop turned up for the day but congratulations to those that did and I'm sure for those first timers is was a real buzz.
Things are still really busy in the workshop with a variety of projects on the go. Great news however Bryce's #73a is ready to go and even spent a weekend at the Speedshow. The other cars well....lets remember that 1 out of 3 is still 33% better than 0 out of 3.
Of course with #73a being built near the end of last season there wasn't much to tidy up during the off season, just some cosmetic items and a bent shock. Not sure if the car will get to a practice as that just means more cleaning and the car looks really good at the moment.
Of the other two cars hopefully one of them will be ready for the first meeting, not sure which. So here is where they sit......
#53a
After waiting weeks and weeks for it to finally get sand blasted its back in the shed with a fresh coat of paint and ready to be reassembled. The front crush bar has been cut off and will be replaced. The front beam has been replaced and the steering and suspension arms are being removed for painting. The aim this weekend is to have the engine back in. Once that's in everything else should pretty much fall into place. That all depends of course on how much spare time I have. |

Dad and Wayne have been putting in a great deal of hours into the new car and with just a few more parts to fabricate it is also ready to be stripped back down, painted and reassembled. Dad assures me that he doesn't intend on keeping my body and carburetor but I need to be quick as if they finish before me then the rules might change. |
We are also looking out for a service manual, or diagram for the Bedford ZF gearbox, we have 2 spare which won't go into first and second gears and don't really want to blindly pull them apart. So if anyone has a drawing or manual which we could briefly borrow it would be much appreciated.
Catch ya.....MadPhil
