2008 Dewtec Enzed Superstock Teams Champs
All loaded up and ready to go. That's the current status of the transporter and sometime this afternoon Dad and John will set off on the long trip to Palmerston North. Everyone knows that this is one of the biggest events on the Superstock Calendar and while the doomers and gloomers say its days are numbered, if you could only see the amount of work and build up that goes into these events and what people are ready to prepared to put on the line you can tell that this event will be around for a while yet.....of course that is provided the promoters realise that while they take home most of the spoils it does still have to be shared around as all the teams are doing there part to make this weekend the huge success that it is.
Anyway, the truck is fully fueled, loaded with two cars, tools and any spares. Isn't it a sight, of course a big thanks to Wayne for the use of the tractor unit. With almost 400hp and a huge amount of torque no doubt the cruise control will be set and it will smile at the passing hills.

So more importantly what's inside?

The number 5 and 8 cars, being the 414a of Warwick Ansty and my 53a. Yes that's right, Dad, Wayne, Scott (sorry if I have missed anyone) and Bryce have worked really hard on getting the new 73a ready and possibly could have but would have run out of time to test it properly. So yesterday was spent removing the alloy arms and lightweight parts off my car and replacing them with stronger steel parts. With the exception of the cooling problem that has now been resolved the 53a car has been running quite reliably over the pass number of meetings and should serve Bryce well. He has also had a few runs in the since and knows how it feels. I have also given the instruction to Bryce to drive the car like it's his, and I know he won't back off.

With the engine running, diff mounted and almost all of the suspension mounted. The new 73a will see track time very soon, and definitely be part of the Allstars team come the Auckland champs. |
Unfortunately I won't be able to get down to Palmerston but good luck to the Auckland Allstars, I know I'm doing my part to support them.
Catch ya....MadPhil
