10th November 2007 : OLLIE BROWNE SUPERSTOCK SPECTACULAR.
Well it was a less than a good start when only 13 cars turning up for the first night. However the cars where a good grouping and should have made for good racing. For my part I do believe that the show was a good one, with contact / speed and a bit of thought by the drivers.I can only think that some of the comments made by persons out there are by people that have and will never be able to run or compete in a superstock or even a stockcar. It can only be those whom think that every night will be a bash and crash night who are disappointed. With 90 % of the season still to go and only 30% through the series what did everyone expect. I for one thought the contact during the night was more than expected. Maybe at the Huntly Superstock champs we will all beat each other up so that the last one going is the winner, (all I can say to those whom use the internet to bad mouth clubs / persons “get in a car and show us how its meant to be done week in and week out”). Do you get a repetitive strain injury by typing or other means?
Anyway,
We had a fairly good night with the car and grid draws. In the first race I
got a good start and was running in a battle for 3 4 5 with Aaron & Warwick
up until the red light came on. On these restarts I find that it takes me about
a lap to get back into the groove and that's about a lap to long. Glenn Drabble
got past both myself and Warwick while we were battling each other. I did manage
to get past Warwick and held him off until the finish of the race.
The next race was a bit of a blurr and it just felt like a long way with very close racing and no room for making a mistake. I was behind Dave Tennant when Stan Hickey took Warwick into the wall, then Stan was sideways in front of both myself and Dave, with no where to go we both hit Stan sending him out to the wall. Then we played follow the leader till the end.
In the last race I got tangled up with some cars, in which I half spun and by the time I got back onto the track everyone had gone. I completed ¾ of the race with no one in front or behind. I slowed a bit to see if I could slow the leading two Huntly cars Wade & Ashton, but I need a bit more track time as the timing was way off and it would have showed.
Any way the finishing
positions of 5, 5 & 7 is enough to have me in fifth place on the standings
at the moment with two nights to go. So we are not unhappy with this.
Still waiting on the new car to see if we can match the big boys.

As for the new car, the new Chev engine has been mounted along with the bellhousing, gearbox and fuel tank. There is a way to go before its ready but with an Extreme Make-Over Trailer Edition also happening and with lots of work that pays the bills fingers crossed it will be ready before to long.
