Whats going on?
Well I headed out to the workshop and got a surprise as I opened the door. I counted (including the mini car), not two but three new cars being built. Pat has had some downtime between jobs and with nothing much to do because of the weather and with some excess steel work began on another chassis. Just because.
You might be wondering why work didn't just continue on the new chassis, well (as above) the engine bay has been modified to match the 53a chassis. So yes the new car will be Toyota powered. But my spare engine hasn't made it back to the workshop yet after it was lent out last season and the new chassis is at the point where it needs an engine mounted. We have a spare quickchange diff ready to be mounted and with 6 spare front beams built for the cars, once we get a few more parts this chassis should build up quickly. Of course plans and ideas change on a weekly basis but hopefully we will start the season (or thereabouts) with 3 cars, from that point who knows but possibly either the current 73a or the brand new Superstock will be put up for sale. Depending on which one Bryce prefers.
The Micro-Stock.
This is one of those sunday afternoon projects but even though it is still coming together well. The engine is mounted and the twin exhausts are being mounted. This thing even has removable wheel guards!
New-new chassis
Its only been about 3.5 days in production and already looks good. There hasn't really been a plan put in place for this chassis, just being used to fill in time. So at the moment the likely hood is the chassis will be finished and put up for sale as a fully welded chassis, with front beam, roll cage, steering box and drop arm.
Also up for sale
is the single car transporter, including winch, ramps etc but more information
will follow soon.
Like once I find
some photos and details of the truck. But it has served us well with making
many trips to most North Island tracks.
