Full House
Things are pretty full in the Workshop at the moment, last night was very busy with work happening on 3 out of 5 cars.
Bryce was doing some repairs from the racing at Huntly the other week, including fixing the rear shocks, front brakes and going through the general weekly maintenance process. He will soon move onto the engine tuning as the new carburetor still isn't quite right. We also put the old 53a chassis (the one that's for sale) back in the workshop to do some tidy up on the chassis. As the roll cage needs updating to the newer pipe size I have decided that I will supply the pipe required to make the required changes to who ever takes the chassis.
Moving along with the roll cage topic, also in the workshop we have Lance Randells 26a Superstock as Pat from PEM Industries is updating its roll cage to match the new pipe size specification. Lance has been out working on the engine mounts as he is replacing the air-cooled Chevy engine with a new Ford that is full of good running gear. Pat is aiming to have the rollcage done shortly so hopefully Lance can get out onto the track hopefully in the new year.
As for my 53a, sitting on the hoist in the next bay. I have been busy getting the heads off the engine, but as engine is mounted off the bell housing and heads, there is a lot that has to be removed first. The new heads are pretty much finished. A big thank you to Vic Neal for offering a shim swap so I could get all the shims we needed to complete the second head. So tonight I am aiming to have the old heads off and the new heads on, then over friday and saturday everything else bolted up and the car running.
Last of all is the new chassis, its just sitting there. Bryce is too busy at the moment to get it ready so he will at present continue using the existing car. Being that the 3 newer cars all have the same basic chassis, Pat has also made spare front and rear bumpers, side rails and wheel guards that are interchangeable which means making and carrying spares so much easier.
