POLITICS WITHIN SPEEDWAY. 10th October 2006.

I am not one that normally gets into issues surrounding politics and the decision making processes.
However I will make comment on the recent advice and decisions made regarding the stockcar roll cage issues.

The persons whom are responsible for administration of the rules and regulations need to realise that they are in a position of responsibility and not there to better their own cause.

In the business world decisions are based on sound and quantified information and not on personnel opinion.
These decisions revolve around time frame / cost / Health & Safety / Design.
It seems that our decision making body replies on rule interpretation or intent of a rule, this unfortunately is of stone age mentality.
Surely, they can see that their decision making has effects on their sport and on there peers. Therefore a report of any decision should be issued so all can see what form of reasoning and logic has been applied.

I for one would like to see a much more formal and open forum being undertaken in any decision making process as with almost any other committee or organisation.

Imagine the following:

Advice to all whom are concerned:

1 : We __________________ are currently looking into the issues surrounding __________________________ as requested by ____________________

2 : The reasons being ____________________________________________

3: Occurrence rate ___________________ Date of occurrence / advice__________

4: Injury incurred ______________________

5: Proposed Solution __________________________________________.

6: Activities being undertaken for determination of advice:
Cost implications:____________ by _________________
Time implications:____________ by ________________
Safety / engineering issues:________________ by __________________
No or persons effected:_______________ by __________________

7 : Time frame for issue of decision:________________ (No more than 2 weeks)

This may not suit everyone but it would at least inform on what and why the decisions have been made.

Finally,
There is no logic or any reasoning for the current decision on the roll cages whether it be safety, time, cost, that could have been applied by those responsible for this decision.

You had been placed there by your peers because you where looked at as being proactive and knowledgeable about the sport.

Obliviously you have learnt nothing regarding the constant changes which effected yourselves when you where trying to compete.

Hopefully a larger percentage of the current competitors agree with myself than disagree.

P.S

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ACT & OUR DECISION MAKING.

Minority always effects majority.
Boundaries of authority are too wide.
Time periods hinder the progress of those involved.
Both value intent and interpretation higher than reason and logic.
Discourage promotion of sport.
Able to act retrospectively without an actual issue being raised.
Make rulings on items never expected to be covered by there scope.
Change things which where working fine with no reason to change.
