Well another week
has past us by and things are looking good.
The 73a car has been the focus of attention with the engine being removed for
rebuilding and the finishing up of the chassis repairs. With the car stripped
down this has also been a good time to update our measurements from which I
will actually draw up some proper plans. The chassis has since been moved onto
the hoist, where it will be painted.
But for now time saving items such as the wheel guard jig (shown above) have been made to make life a little easier. While it looks like nothing it has turned out very helpful, John managed to make four wheel guards in a very short time without any hassle. But the best thing is we can be sure that they are all exactly the same and interchangeable between either side and either car. No re-measuring required.
The transporter has had all new brake pads and the drums skimmed. There is a little bit of freshening up required with the engine/electronics but like the cars it should be ready for the beginning of the season. I must say we are really looking forward to only having to use one vehicle to cart around both cars and with seating for 8 people we shouldn't even have to use a car to transport the pit crew.
