Slow start to the season.

There has been lots of off season activity from the team members, but not much of it was focused towards the cars. All the off-season plans went on hold while everyone had a break and caught up on lots of tasks that don't really get the time allowed during the season to be finished properly. But with around a month to go the time has come around to shift some focus and get things moving.

So anyway, work has started on repairing the 73a chassis, with it receiving new engine mounts, side rails, and front bumper.

This photo was taken a week ago. All the bars, bumper, and side rails have been tacked on and most of the car has been stripped ready for the engine to come out so everything can be fully welded. The current plan timetable as the car all up and ready easily by the first meeting.

Pretty much everything that has been made recently to repair the cars, Pat and John have made extras. Combine these new spares and the shopping spree Bryce went on, I have a sneaky feeling that sometime during the season we might just see a brand new 73a car hitting the tracks.

As for the 53a car, well it finally got a wash so the paint can be touched up. The engine is still waiting for the new heads to be finished so it might finally be able to stretch its legs a bit more with some larger camshafts. Of course I am still not expecting miracles as I haven't spent enough. With a huge increase in the cost of fuel I'd rather have enough money to run the car than spend it all on the engine and then not afford the fuel to run it :)

So that about it for this long awaited update. There will be more to come before the season opener.
We are about to start attacking the transporter, its been a couple of seasons since we used the big truck and its about time we got back to hauling both cars at the same time.
