What's going on with the new car?
Well surprising enough I have been asked this question alot in the past little while. Progress has been slowed mainly because of me, well more of because the money machines don't give me as much as I want and not even talking to them nice seems to help! But along with the shortage of cash I have been very busy with work and other personal commitments, we will get there in the end.
The car is coming along nicely and I think it looks pretty good. Of course by the look of the pictures from last month it doesn't look like much has change the car is now fully welded and painted. So the process now of bolting everything into the car has begun. There is still a long way to go but we now have most of the main bits required to get the car looking like its ready. But all the little jobs take time.
We got the new front beam in place on Monday, so we can start working out the steering and modifying the toyota hubs and stubs to suit. The fuel tank from CSR (which looks just awesome) is bolted in and the fuel line to the pump has been made. Tomorrow night the dummy engine should be back in the engine bay so we can bolt on the twin plate clutch and make up the bell housing. I am also going to make a final decision on if I can afford to run a Winters diff with alloy axle, or if I must use the old quick change I currently have. I bought a brand new PG hydraulics steering box and drop arm, so thats ready to be fitted again. The other main task is to port out the exhaust ports on some spare cylinder heads so we can make use of the new cam shafts I have sitting here beside me.
Other items in the news is that the old 53a has had its seat bolted down and radiator hoses done up so its ready to go and we will use that for the first lot of meetings we attend.
